The Discussion Meet is an activity designed to build crucial skills in young, active farmers and ranchers. By participating, members build basic discussion skills, develop a keen understanding of important agricultural issues and explore how groups can pool knowledge to reach consensus and solve problems.

The state competition is held during the Colorado Farm Bureau Annual Meeting in November. Winners of the Discussion Meet at the state level will win various prizes including cash awards. The state DM winner will also win a trip to the American Farm Bureau Federation's Annual Meeting to compete on the national level. The national Discussion Meet winner will receive a new Dodge Ram pickup as well as paid registration to the Young Farmer & Rancher Leadership conference.
