Young Farmer & Rancher Program:

The Young Farmer & Rancher (YF&R) Program of the Colorado Farm Bureau provides an excellent opportunity for young farmers, ages 18-35, to actively participate in Farm Bureau programs and become leaders in the Farm Bureau organization.

Young farmers and ranchers are a rare commodity these days, yet they are probably one of agriculture's most important. It is imperative that we surface new leaders that will work to continue our agricultural way of life for generations to come. As a young farmer or rancher, an organization like Farm Bureau is a valuable tool to have under your belt. You have many challenges ahead of you; we can provide you with all the tools you'll need.

As a result of active participation in Farm Bureau programs, YF&R members will experience personal growth and achievement as Farm Bureau members, farmers, citizens and community leaders. Participation in membership acquisition and maintenance, legislative activities, policy development and execution, commodity promotion, marketing, political education and action, and local affairs builds strong leaders for the future of Farm Bureau.

YF&R Discussion Meet:

Farm Bureau's strength depends on its members' ability to analyze agricultural problems and decide on solutions that best meet their needs. One of the events a member can compete in as a Young Farmer and Rancher is the Discussion Meet. (Click here to learn more)

YF&R Leadership Conference:

Farm Bureau's Annual YF&R Leadership Conference is held each year in the early spring.

The conference offers:

  • Development of leadership and political education skills.
  • Educational workshops on various topics.
  • Legislative updates and opportunities to visit with local legislators.
  • Tours of local agricultural production facilities and businesses.
  • Social events and opportunities to network with farmers and ranchers from across the state.

Comments from previous conference participants:

  • "It was fun. I learned a lot about Farm Bureau and what they do. Thanks."
  • "The group of speakers this year was extraordinary! To be able to get this caliber of speakers speaks well for the organization. I think that if we can get people to attend, they will be addicted!"
  • "I thought this year's tours were outstanding and appreciate all the work that went into it."

The location and date change from year to year in order to accommodate all of our members throughout the state. For this year's conference date and location, contact Dana Thompson (970)-454-1881 or dthompson@colofb.com
